Description :
This plant is an erect shrub, having height of 1 to 3 m tall. The bark is greyish brown, young shoots slightly puberulous. Spines are white, straight and 1.5 to 5 cm long. Rachis is glabrous and 0.7 to 5 cm long. Pinnae are in 1 to 4 pairs and 5 to 15 cm long. Leaflets are 2.5 to 4 mm long, 1 to 1.5 mm broad, sessile and are in 5 to 10 pairs. Flowers are yellow and 1.2-2.5 cm long. Corolla is 2 to 3 mm long. Pod is 4 to 8 cm long and 0.7 to 1.8 cm broad, having 5 to 6 seeds which are 3 to 5 mm long.
Distribution :
It is distributed in western side of Pakistan (Sind, Punjab, and Balochistan) and in India (Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan). It can also be found in different parts of eastern Asia. It prefers to grow in dry regions, usually along water courses and in ravine.
Uses :
It has different used like medicinal,
agroforestry and other things. The plant is used to make medicines for the
treatment of diarrhea and dysentery and can also be helpful in cases of
internal bleeding. They are also used to treat wounds and other skin problems, hemorrhoids,
perspiring feet, some eye problems, as a mouth wash. The plant
has a spreading root system and has ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen, is a
good sand binder. The plant yields a gum of fair quality is used in calico
printing and paper making.
